Post-Jam Thank You + 1.00b Update!
NIGHT RANGER MYSTIA » Devlog
Hello, everyone! The rating period for the 12nd Touhou Fan Game Jam has ended - and NIGHT RANGER MYSTIA returns with a new update!
But first of all - thank you so much for all your support and the wonderful ratings! NIGHT RANGER MYSTIA came in at a mind-blowing fourth place overall out of 50+ entries in the jam, with Top 3 rankings in Challenge, Gameplay, and Audio/Music. We couldn't be more grateful for your support and enjoyment of the game!
The post-jam 1.00b update is small, but packs a punch! It comes with some new content and various fixes to make your game experience even smoother. Please enjoy!
1.00b Changelog
New Content:
- Multiple difficulties! Choose from four difficulties - Easy to Lunatic - which adjust the game's dynamic difficulty levels to different ranges, allowing for players of all skill levels to challenge themselves. You can also play Original for the jam-build experience!
- High score tracking! Track high scores for each difficulty on the difficulty select screen! How high can you get!? Share scores with your friends, too!
- Some new enemy waves! The stage has been spiced up a bit more with new enemy formations and patterns.
Fixes & Rebalances
- The game has been ported to an older, but more stable version of Danmakufu. Most players should not notice any significant changes.
- The sword mechanic's controls have been tweaked - tapping the slash button should now release slashes immediately without any delay.
- The Danger Level text now fades if the player moves Mystia near it.
- The starting lives and item opacity options now work correctly.
- The tutorial screen has been reworked - now it should be more clear that you're supposed to hold the fire/slash buttons, not tap/mash them for the best effect. (Both technically work, but why even do the latter?)
- Music now stops properly after you game-over.
