Inside Out at the Top of the World releases today!

If you've been following me for a while, you may be quite surprised that this new game isn't a metroidvania or a bullet hell shmup... but a visual novel!?

Kaiser and Solaris are two original characters of mine that I've been super in love with ever since I created them back in 2023. I was going to make a bullet hell shmup with them, but couldn't come up with any cool gameplay or setting ideas for that shmup yet... but what I did have was a silly story idea involving rollercoasters and heart-to-hearts.

Fast forward to 2024 and here we are! Joining NaNoRenO with two weeks left in March out of a whim to make this little game come true, and I did! I had an idea in mind and went all into it with what I could manage - and I love what I got out of it! The short 10-minute-kinetic-novel scope may be a little bit underwhelming... but honestly, I think it's a charming little game.

I'd love to write a postmortem of this some day, I think this really showed me how wonderful illustrating and writing visual novels can be! But for now, it's time for a well-deserved break.
